Mr Shammi Datt is the Director of the IB Teacher Training Program at Tokyo Gakugei University, Graduate School of Teacher Education, a program leading to IB Educator Certificates for in-service teachers and graduate students. His other roles are: Director at the Japan Association for Research into IB Education, advisor and PD facilitator for bilingual, global standards education at universities, schools and BOEs.
His IB online-assignment roles include bilingual IBDP workshop leader, IBEC university recognition and DP school authorization visit member, examiner, and course reader. From 2012 – 2015, Shammi headed a MEXT funded research team on IB education as head of IB Research and IB academic affairs at Senri International School of Kwansei Gakuin. Here he taught DP and the Japanese national curriculum, and did career guidance for students applying to overseas and domestic universities for over 20 years. Known as a proponent and practitioner of facilitation skills leading to “student ownership or learning,” Shammi is currently involved in three projects to create effective IB teaching resources. Beyond IB education, his interests are in Japanese history, comparative religion, regional revitalisation and business models, yoga, travel, and cooking." |
Dr. Paul Lowe is currently the pedagogy specialist at AOBA-JIS working with teachers in IB MYP and DP programs.
Paul’s PhD from Curtin University (WA) where he studied ‘The Effect of Cooperative Group Work and Assessment on the Attitudes of Students towards Science in New Zealand’ 2004 He directed and co-published problem-based learning in teams projects for top and lower band students across multiple schools. He was awarded the inaugural $150,000 Prime Ministers Science prize in 2010 for his impact on student achievement. He was the teacher on the PM Science advisory committee 2010. He was the Senior Science Curriculum Specialist for ADEC in Abu Dhabi for 5 years, initiating a successful shift to team-based inquiry working with 50 science advisors working with 10,000 students in each of Grades 6-12, 2011-2015. He has been an adjunct research fellow (Curtin University) and examines PhD’s and peer reviews papers (Learning Environments Research-Springer) from 2012. He was a University of Auckland science facilitator across 13 schools shifting student achievement through team-based inquiry in 2016.
